Family Chemistry Dedication

Join us as we dedicate a mural by the late artist Craig Turner—one of our most gifted and prolific young talents. Raised in a close-knit family in the Richard Allen Homes, Craig’s passion for drawing and painting was nurtured early on by his mother, a respected community leader who recognized his artistic promise.
Craig was among the first cohort of young artists—primarily graffiti writers—to study and grow under the guidance of Jane Golden. After the early passing of his mother, Craig found a new sense of belonging and creative purpose through his involvement with the Philadelphia Anti-Graffiti Network (PAGN), which later evolved into the Mural Arts Program. He became an integral part of a dynamic crew of artists and workers, all while continuing to develop his own artistic voice. Determined to refine his craft, Craig pursued formal training at the Art Institute of Philadelphia. Tragically, his life was cut short in 2011.
Located at 801 N 11th Street, this mural stands as a tribute to Craig’s legacy—an invitation to reconsider his work, both for its artistic merit and as a testament to how art can transform the life of an artist and uplift an entire community.
